“I knew we were sending some good beers, but I’m absolutely flabbergasted,” FSB head brewmaster Darren Link said this morning. “I hope it helps to solidify Dayton as a great beer-tourism destination and that Fifth Street is a must-stop in that itinerary.”
Other Ohio breweries taking home medals included Samuel Adams and Quarter Barrel Brewery & Pub, with two medals each; and MadTree Brewing Company and Rhinegeist Brewing, with one each. Cincinnati-based Rheingeist’s medal was a gold, for its “Puma” in the International Style Pilsner category.
The competition started in 2009 and is based in Oxford, Ohio. It attracted 5,000 entries representing over 90 different styles this year from breweries inside and outside the U.S.
