Fire destroys garage in Middletown this morning

Firefighters were able to contain a fire this morning that gutted a detached garage at a home on in the 4500 block of Hannah Drive.

Middletown Fire Chief Paul Lolli said firefighters were dispatched about 8:40 a.m. and found the garage engulfed in flames. A large black plume of smoke could be seen for miles, he said.

Crews remain on the scene investigating for cause, and there were no injuries, Lolli said.

Witnesses reported the fire melted some siding on a residence about 25 feet from the blaze.
