Firefighters Battle Two Sunday Fires; No Injures Reported

Firefighters in Covington believe a smoke detector woke up a Covington-area woman as her home caught on fire. The fire happened on Sunday at a home on Route 36 near the village of Covington.

Investigators said they believe the fire began in the wall between the laundry room and the family room. Fire damage is estimated at $40,000.

There were no injuries during the fire.

In Harrison Township, fire crews battled a blaze on Titus late Sunday night around 11 p.m.

Investigators said an unattended candle may be the cause of the fire. Firefighters stopped the flames from spreading, but the rest of the house suffered smoke damage.

No one was injured during the fire.
