Crawfish pardoned in Louisiana

Just before Thanksgiving every year, the president pardons a turkey. Now, Louisiana wants to start a tradition of its own by pardoning a crawfish.

“Crawfish is a way of life in Louisiana,” said Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser.

The crawfish’s name is Emile. He is named for the founder of the famous spice company Zatarain’s.

“We will make this a tradition after Mardi Gras, the beginning of crawfish season. We will pardon the crawfish every year,” said Nungesser.
