The 15th annual marathon begins at 6:30 a.m. May 5.
The weekend of events will go on as scheduled, Simpson-Bush said, but with the following precautions:
- Local police and fire officials will conduct a full safety audit of the entire course
- Working with Running USA, the national governing body of U.S. road races, Flying Pig organizers will reach out to the marathons and road races scheduled during the next three weeks to share best practices in safety and security.
- Changes could be made to the Start and Finish line to increase security. Any changes will be communicated by race officials.
