Former Financial Advisor Sentenced In Theft Case

Police said seven victims, some of them elderly, put their savings in the hands of a financial adviser, but prosecutors said the man misused the money.

Investigators said the financial adviser is now headed to jail.

The judge sentenced Timothy Stauffer to seven years in prison. He was convicted on multiple counts of theft.

Prosecutors said Stauffer worked for Smith-Barney in Centerville. They said he stole more than $500,000 and used the money for vacations, restaurants and strip clubs.

The judge also ordered the man to pay restitution for the money that was stolen. The money will be given back to Smith-Barney because the company already paid its customers back.
