McDonald’s will give away a handful of Limited Edition bottles — they really are numbered — of Big Mac Special Sauce at two of its Dayton-area restaurants today, Jan. 26.

To celebrate the return of the Mac Jr. and Grand Mac, which were tested in central Ohio in 2016, McDonald's made 10,000 bottles of Big Mac Sauce available to customers for free, McDonald's officials said in a release. The Miami Valley has 55 of those numbered bottles, which will be given away today, Thursday Jan. 26, on a first-come, first-served basis at two local restaurants: at 10:30 a.m. at the McDonald's at 1570 Miamisburg- Centerville Road in Washington Twp., and at noon at the McDonald's at 530 East National Road in Vandalia.

The bottled sauce — the first time it’s been offered as a separate package in the U.S. — is designed to promote the nationwide launch of the Mac Jr. and Grand Mac, which will be available for a limited time until about March 20.

The Grand Mac consists of two beef patties — a total of one-third pound, uncooked weight — with two slices of American cheese and the iconic “special sauce,” served on a larger sesame seed bun with lettuce, minced onions and pickles — a literal and figurative mouthful,” McDonald’s officials described it. The Mac Jr. sandwich is a single-layer burger — no middle bun — that’s easier to eat on the go, McDonald’s officials said.
