‘God blesses those who give'

‘God blesses those who give’

I have finally read all the lies and half-truths I can tolerate in regard to Solid Rock Church and the Jesus statue.

Most of the people commenting are completely ill-informed, to put it kindly. I have been a member for many years, so I do know what I’m talking about.

First of all, our pastors do not take a salary, nor have they ever. They are probably our biggest tithers. We do not pay for their “fancy cars,” as someone suggested.

As for helping the poor, we probably give as much or more than most churches. We have the home for unmarried girls and for homeless girls. We support an orphanage and have built churches around the world, plus many other things. I would ask all of you complaining about helping the poor, what have you done lately to help someone?

Secondly, for the last time, we do not worship anything built with hands. We worship God alone. It’s a statue, period.

Enough of this ignorance about this and us not helping the poor. So much for this culture of corruption, as some ill-informed person suggested.

Lastly, we are not taking an opinion poll on rebuilding the statue. Unless you’re a tithe-paying member of our church, I would politely say it’s not your business.

I also would like to state that God blesses those who give. Read the Bible. To say that you have to drive an old, rusty car and wear old clothes to be a Christian is spiritually ignorant.

I hope in the future you get your facts correct before you spout off about things you don’t know about.

‘I just pray God will forgive us’

I agree with the Rev. Brads on the Jesus statue. That is surely a graven image, and the money they spent on that statue could have helped a lot of people who need housing, clothing, food, medical attention. I think God would rather see love shown by helping others than putting money into a graven image.

I know a lot of people say we don’t worship the statue, but then why is it such a issue to rebuild it? The lighting struck the right hand, correct? Well, Jesus sits on the right hand of God. Could that not be a sign?

People say if it touched one heart, then it was worth it. All I have ever heard is terrible things. Stupid songs making fun of the statue. “Touchdown Jesus,” what is that? “Butter Jesus.”

Come on. That to me is blasphemy and that will send you straight to hell. So how many people were touched good by this and how many may be sinning because of it?

I just pray God will forgive us if we are sinning against him because of the statue.
