“It’s Not A Race Leave Some Space” and “Camp in the Ohio State Parks Not the Left Lane” are among the cheeky signs reminding thousands of drivers to be safe and courteous on Ohio highways.

Since 2015, the Ohio Department of Transportation has had an online 'suggestion box' for messages to be displayed on more than 130 traffic signs across the state.

Some of them are pretty funny, such as “Visiting the In-Laws? Slow Down Get There Late” and “Turn Signals: The Original Instant Message.”

And then there are the holiday themed messages, such as “Turkey Says Buckle Buckle” and “Drive Egg-cellent Some Bunny Needs You.”

The messages get bumped if there is a traffic alert to be posted, said ODOT spokesman Matt Bruning.

The online form for suggestions has some basic guidelines: messages must be traffic safety related and no longer than 51 characters.

ODOT also says “Your submission will be disqualified if it is defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent, harassing, bullying, threatening or unlawful.”
