Grand opening today for Fairborn’s new ‘kitchen incubator’

Fairborn city officials are poised to unveil their new Spark Gluten-Free kitchen incubator.

Spark Gluten-Free will host a grand opening from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 in the temporary Spark office at 311 Main St. in downtown Fairborn.

The kitchen incubator is designed to provide entrepreneurs with access to a certified gluten-free commercial kitchen to launch and develop gluten-free food enterprises. At Thursday’s grand opening, attendees will have a chance to tour the incubator and meet the current tenants, as well as to sample products made there.

“We can’t wait for people to experience the community that we are building here,” Tonia Fish, downtown revitalization strategist for the city of Fairborn, said in a release. “Spark Gluten-Free offers a collaborative space for food entrepreneurs to create fantastic products while tapping into a built-in support system that can help them navigate the tricky path of starting or growing a business.”

Tiffany Ferrell, brand strategist for Fairborn, said the gluten-free space is the first phase of a broader project dubbed “Spark Fairborn,” under construction next door to Spark Gluten-Free and slated to open its doors later this summer.

Spark Fairborn will provide resources and support to entrepreneurs across all industries, providing access to the tools, education, and network needed to accelerate the launch and growth of their businesses, Ferrell said.

Spark Fairborn will house a fully equipped commercial kitchen and dry storage that its members can utilize.
