Greedy governor

Regarding the May 10 editorial ("Kasich not letting casinos win easily"): I moved from Lawrenceburg, Ind., about 12 years ago. When a casino came in, there was more money made for the city and the surrounding cities than they had ever heard of. All you've got to do is visit Lawrenceburg and see what they built. There are streets, firehouses and playgrounds. This governor is greedy and sounds like he just wants all of it. He is so stupid. Doesn't he realize that these people who run and build the casinos are not dummies? They're not going to spend millions and millions of dollars and turn around and give it all away. I never heard of anything like this in my life.

I am so pleased that Franklin passed its tax levy. It is so good that one city around Middletown will maintain its streets, pools and things for its citizens. Not that anyone can trust any city governments, but it does seem like Franklin is somewhat responsive to the people of its city. It is really great though that Franklin is still going to have things that make it a city, whereas Middletown is going to be one big sinkhole with an art center and a bunch of empty buildings that — maybe someday — will be Cincinnati State. ...

I am just wondering when some of the owners, general managers and managers will start to clean up some of these ball players. Get rid of these mustaches, goatees, beards and long hair. These guys are idols to our young kids. Some of them look awful shaggy. I think it is a sin that these guys go to work the way they look.

We all know that the government is run very differently than the way we would run our own household. It is proven right here in Middletown. We have a Social Security office out there by Meijer's. It is nice but it is too big for them. Instead of just blocking everything off and only using the part that they need, they are going to build a brand-new Social Security building in front of Meijer's. Now does this makes sense? I don't know. Sometimes I really wonder how they use our money.
