Gunman chases man around store, steals Cadillac

Police did not get much help from witnesses or the victim who was allegedly chased around a store by a man with a gun.

A hit and run call, followed by the discovery of a wrecked 2004 Cadillac STS, led to an investigation around 3 a.m. Friday at the All in One Food and Fuel, 119 James H. McGee Blvd., according to the Dayton police report.

Officers found the Cadillac smashed against a tree at West Second and Antioch streets. A man claiming ownership of the car told police it was stolen from him by a gunman who had chased him around the All in One store, according to the report.

Witnesses corroborated the victim’s statement that he was chased around the store and that he hid from the man in a cooler, but neither the victim nor witnesses gave police a description of the suspect, according to the report.

Police gathered evidence from the vehicle and were expected to review the store’s surveillance video.
