Several homes in the area of Grand Boulevard and 11th Street were evacuated shortly after 2:30 p.m. today due to a gas leak after a construction crew struck a gas line.
The gas line was near overpass construction being done in the area, according to Hamilton Fire Chief Steve Dawson.

First responders evacuated everybody in the area as a precaution, he said.
Fire personnel were on standby to “make sure that nobody was in the hazard zone,” Dawson said.
