Dayton area women will be rocking Kerry Washington's purple purse until Oct. 25.

YWCA Dayton is one of 191 organizations given a purple purse designed by Washington as part of Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse Challenge for domestic violence awareness.

Financial abuse is the number one reason women don't leave abusive relationships, according to YWCA Dayton.

The organization — the only domestic violence shelter and crisis hotline in  Montgomery and Preble counties— could win up to $100,000 as a result.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
