We asked Long to answer several questions about the company. Here’s what she had to say:

Q: What’s the biggest challenge facing your business and others in the industry and how is it uniquely positioned to address that challenge?

“With unemployment numbers in our area hitting all- time lows, we are in fierce competition with local employers who are encountering the same barriers to recruiting available qualified individuals to perform in open roles. We feel we are uniquely positioned because we are the best in our industry with lots to offer job seekers who wish to grow and develop their careers by joining the industry leader.”

Q: What’s the most prevalent roadblock you’ve encountered when it comes to hiring and what can job seekers do to remedy that situation?

“We encourage job seekers to do their ‘homework’ and really become familiar with the available positions to make sure that Sysco and the position they apply for are the right fit for them. Our warehouse and driver positions are physically challenging and due to the nature of our business, require non-typical working hours including at nights or and early mornings. Job preview videos and detailed job descriptions for these roles can be found on our careers site and we also attempt to give candidates a realistic job preview when they come to our facility to interview for these positions.”

All associates are encouraged to apply for any open position across the corporation for which they are qualified, as they seek opportunities to grow and develop in their individual career path.”
