Hobart Brothers To Expand; Adds 40 Additional Jobs

On Sept. 4 the Hobart Brothers Company announced the expansion of its manufacturing operations into a new 65,000-square-foot facility located at the corner of Kings Chapel and Corporate Drive in Troy. The new facility will be used to increase production capacity for the companys welding consumables.

We continue to see increases in both domestic and international demand for welding consumables, and are pleased to be able to invest in this expansion to support our growth said Grant Harvey, Vice President and General Manager. We are especially pleased to make this investment in the Troy area.

Hobart Brothers anticipates an additional 40 people will be added to its workforce once the new plant is at capacity. In addition, the building will contribute thousands of dollars to the local property tax base and will be built by Ferguson Construction, a local contractor, further improving the economic impact of the expansion.

Construction on the new building is scheduled to begin the week of September 2, 2008 and will be completed by Spring 2009.

Incorporated in 1917, and then acquired by Illinois Tool Works in 1996, Hobart Brothers Company is a leading manufacturer of welding consumables. Other Hobart Brothers manufacturing facilities are located in Piqua, Ohio, and Woodstock Ontario, Canada.
