UD Home Invasion Suspect Surrenders

A man accused of invading a UD campus apartment and threatening two students, surrendered to Dayton police Thursday morning.

That man is identified as Ronald Gomez Taylor, 20, of Dayton.

The robbery happened late Monday night at the Garden Apartments on Stewart Street.

Authorities said three men carrying a shotgun and a handgun, forced their way into the apartment. Officers said they believe Taylor led the attack.

Officers said Taylor was with two other men as they held a shotgun to the head of one of the students and pistol-whipped a second student.

The men grabbed some laptop computers, some cell phones and a wallet before taking off, police said.

Investigators said they later found a couple of power cords from the laptop computers hanging from bushes, where the men parked their getaway car.

Officers believe the victims were targeted following a party the students held several days earlier. Investigators used that information and later identified Taylor as one of the men who was behind the assaults.

Police said one of the students was injured and required hospital treatment. However, both students are okay and have returned to class.
