Horseshoe Cincinnati Casino has started its final round of hiring as it prepares for a spring opening.
The casino is taking applications online for 450 food and beverage job openings, including beverage servers, bartenders, bar porters, cooks, food servers, buffet hosts and food and beverage managers, it announced Monday.
The casino plans to open spring of 2013 with about 1,700 full- and part-time employees. Total payroll is expected to be about $60 million, said Jennifer Kulczycki, spokeswoman for casino owners Rock Gaming LLC. And hiring is being done in phases.
Butler and Warren county residents have a good chance of getting casino jobs as casino operators have committed to hiring 90 percent of its work force from the Cincinnati metropolitan area.
“Some of the supervisory positions require leadership experience, but really in the casino industry….a good majority of the positions don’t require prior casino experience, although it’s helpful,” Kulczycki said.
There is no deadline to apply, but the casino urges people to do so as early as possible.
“As we have enough applications, we’ll be taking those positions down,” Kulczycki said.
Horseshoe Cincinnati will be about 100,000-square-feet with 2,000 slot machines, 85 table games and a 31-table World Series of Poker room. There will be three outward facing restaurants, according to the company. A buffet restaurant, a quick-casual eatery, a VIP players lounge, a coffee shop and a feature bar will also be part of the casino.
There were 5,600 applications early this fall for about 750 available jobs for table game and poker dealers, and game supervisors, Kulczycki said. People can’t apply for these gaming jobs anymore. Those who made it to the next stage of the hiring process are training in a 12-week dealer academy, which upon completion by early February, hires will be made.
Another more than 1,200 applications have been received to date for 400 administrative, facilities and security jobs that opened for hiring last month.
New job descriptions are posted online at www.horseshoecincinnati.com. Requirements are:
— At least 21 years old at the time of application;
— A high school graduate, or GED equivalent;
— Able to provide prior work history; resumes are not required but helps with screening;
— Flexible to work nights, weekends and holidays; and
— Willing to do all pre-employment requirements including a criminal background check, drug test and regulatory licensing requirements.
Construction for the $400 million casino is off Broadway Street in Cincinnati. The casino is owned and operated by Rock Ohio Caesars, a joint venture of Rock Gaming LLC and Caesars Entertainment Corp.
