Construction underway in UD’s Kennedy Union. The university opened new micro-restaurants in August in the union.

The University of Dayton will celebrate the renovation of spaces inside Kennedy Union this week.

UD has scheduled an open house and a blessing from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday and will start on the front steps of the building, the school announced today.

The university recently updated the union’s dining areas, which serve more than 3,500 customers daily during the school year, according to UD.

Three new micro-restaurants have been added to the ground floor including ‘Que, Spice and Toss and Au Bon Pain bakery café on the first floor.

The dining options opened to the public in August, according to the university.

UD will also celebrate the union’s new green roof, which provides a campus hub for sustainability education, improved aesthetics and a cooler roof that has the potential to lower the building’s energy costs.
