Humane Society nears $572K deal with Miami Twp. for Austin land

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is nearing a deal with Miami Twp. to buy about 4 acres on Austin Boulevard.

Miami Twp. trustees have approved a measure for Acting Administrator Ron Hess to execute a real estate purchase with the organization headquartered on Nicholas Road in Dayton.

Township records indicate the humane society has agreed to buy 3.86 acres at 2673 Austin Boulevard - near Austin Landing and Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport - for $572.000, The land is part of more than 60 acres in that area owned by the township.

“Their intention is to ultimately build a facility,” Miami Twp. Community Development Director Chris Snyder told trustees.
