The restaurant at 7611 Old Troy Pike seats 192 and will employ about 110, Gilbert said. IHOP has another restaurant under construction in Vandalia near the Miller Lane restaurant row, and operates restaurants in Beavercreek and Springfield.

The Huber Heights restaurant had been projected to open as early as March, but was delayed after construction workers encountered bedrock while installing sewer lines, according to Huber Heights city officials.

IHOP has made a comeback in the Dayton-Springfield area in the last two years. It opened the first of a projected seven IHOP locations in the region in October 2015 on North Fairfield Road in Beavercreek, and the second one in October 2016 on Bechtle Avenue in Springfield.

The region had multiple IHOP locations in the 1970s and 1980s, including one near Ohio 725 and Ohio 741 near the Dayton Mall and one on Shiloh Springs Road near the former Salem Mall, but those restaurants closed about 25 years ago.
