Indiana Company Recalls Toothpaste Made In China

Indiana-based Gilchrist and Soames said it is recalling toothpaste that was made in China.

The recall was issued after discovering some samples contained a chemical used to make automotive antifreeze. The substance is toxic to the kidneys and liver, and can depress the central nervous system.

The toothpaste has been distributed to hotels in more than a dozen countries, including the U.S.

The company said it is cooperating with the Food and Drug Administration.
