Initiative to raise awareness of cybersecurity, at home and at work

“Am I more computer security aware at home or at work?” “Is my professional and personal information protected online?” “How secure is that computer device?” “What might the bad guys know?”

These and other questions may be answered next month in classes with titles such as, “Wireless Security for Home Use”, “Portable Device Security” and “Anatomy of a Cyber Attack” during the annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

This October, the 88th Air Base Wing Cybersecurity Office is commemorating the 15th annual initiative to raise awareness of cybersecurity, at home and at work. The NCSAM 2018 is a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online, while increasing the resiliency of the nation during cyber-threats.

The Department of Homeland Security is the federal, national lead for NCSAM, in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance. The overarching national theme for 2018 is “Cybersecurity is our shared responsibility and we all must work together to improve our Nation’s cybersecurity.”

Annually the 88 ABW Cybersecurity Office partners with the Air Force Institute of Technology, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, the 88th CS, and others to host the NCSAM in October.
