I-70E lanes re-open in Preble Co. after driver falls asleep at wheel

UPDATE @ 8:17 a.m.

Normal traffic flow has resumed on I-70 East where a crash had eastbound lanes closed earlier today.

UPDATE @ 6:36 a.m. 

A trooper with Ohio State Highway Patrol said a driver fell asleep at the wheel and caused the crash.

One lane of I-70 East is open now.

A hatchback vehicle collided with a minivan, sending the minivan into the grass off the highway. A third vehicle was lightly touched and was able to be driven away from the scene later.

Reported injuries are still said to be minor.

UPDATE @ 5:20 a.m. 

All lanes of Interstate 70 East in Preble County are closed for crash at the mile marker 7. Minor injuries from the two vehicles involved, emergency dispatchers confirm.

A semi-trailer is not involved, despite original reports.

FIRST REPORT

Multiple vehicles are involved in a crash on Interstate 70 East in Preble County.

Around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, the multi-vehicle crash was reported on I-70 East at mile marker 7. The left lane is closed.

Injuries are reported.
