The sports bar/restaurant that succeeded the long-running Barnsider in Harrison Twp. has shut its doors permanently, and its property is now for sale, its founder said this morning.

Liquid Sports Club (also Liquid S.C.) opened in November at at 5202 N. Main St. in Harrison Twp., where the Barnsider had enjoyed a 41-year run until closing in May 2016. But it is now closed, founder and veteran local restaurateur Greg Ingersoll told this news outlet this morning, July 28.

A couple of potential buyers have expressed interest in the property, Ingersoll said, but nothing has been finalized.

Ingersoll said he made the decision to shut down the restaurant earlier this month as business slowed over the summer. A shooting in the Liquid Sports Club’s parking lot in February and zoning issues were factors in the decision to close, the restaurant owner said.

Ingersoll purchased the property in May 2016 from Barnsider founder Mary Seto Miller and made several improvements to the parking lot and the building’s exterior prior to opening Liquid.

The Barnsider had been a popular gathering spot and destination for prom dinners, rehearsal dinners, family gatherings and special events for decades, serving families and communities in north Dayton and in northern Montgomery County.
