Keno Revenues Fall Short By $43 Million

Keno made $30 million last year, according to statistics from The Ohio Lottery, but Gov. Ted Strickland said he expected the game to make $73 million, which would prevent cuts in education funding.

And since the numbers are falling short of what was projected for this form of gambling, some critics are wondering if Strickland’s slots proposal – projected to bring in $933 million in order to balance the state budget – will have the same result.

A spokesperson for the governor said the Keno numbers aren’t an indicator for the slots and state officials said they are confident slots will pay out.
