Kettering restaurant scales back its hours, will be open for dinner only

A restaurant in Kettering that had served breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week when it opened in March 2017 has dropped the morning and afternoon food service in order to focus on dinner service, and also is now closed on Sundays, according to a sign that greets customers inside the restaurant’s front door.

"We will no longer be serving lunch or breakfast," the Merit Grill,  at 3800 Wilmington Pike, informed its customers in late July.

The restaurant’s new hours are 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday.

The Wilmington Pike space previously housed The Kettering Grill & Cafe, which operated from November 2014 through February 2017. It once housed the Bar-B-Q Hut, a mainstay in Kettering for 25 years before it closed in October 2011.

The building originally was built as a Friendly’s restaurant.
