“We were notified of the situation and immediately began working with the banks to reverse these erroneous charges,” said Don Helbig, Public Relations Area Manager for Kings Island in a statement.
“All charges have been reversed as of yesterday afternoon,” Helbig said.
He did not say how many people were affected.
Shelly Tool, of Riverside, said she was overcharged at least five times, as was her son. Her son-in-law was overcharged 12 times, she said.
The “glitch in the system,” as her son said park officials told her, overcharged her for a cowboy hat.
Tool said her son told her park officials said more than 500 people were affected.
The money, she said, has been returned to her account.
“We’re never going to use a credit card at Kings Island again,” Tool said. “We will pay cash and if we don’t have cash for what we want then we won’t get it.”
Helbig said any park guest that may have been assessed an overdraft fee or was impacted by the multiple charges should contact the park immediately.
