The Nashville-based specialty retailer was founded in 1966. Its stores sell framed art, mirrors, candles, lamps, picture frames, accent rugs, garden accessories, artificial floral products and seasonal merchandise. It operates 342 stores in 35 states, including a store on Voice of America Drive in West Chester Twp.
Saturday’s grand opening festivities begin at 9 a.m., with the first 50 customers receiving a $10 gift card and free gift bag with home décor items and coupons. Customers also can register to win one of two $50 gift cards.
Attempts to reach Kirkland’s officials for details about the new Dayton Mall location late last week and early this week were unsuccessful.
For the company’s fiscal year that will end Jan. 30, 2016, Kirkland’s is expected to open 35 to 40 new stores nationwide while closing 10 to 15, company officials said in its most recent quarterly earning report released in May.
Net sales for the 13 weeks ended May 2 rose 9.3 percent to $118.3 million, while same-store sales for the quarter increased 3 percent from the previous year. Net income for the quarter increased 23 percent to $2.5 million.
Kirkland’s President and CEO Mike Madden said company officials “are encouraged by the current momentum in the business.”
