Fairborn names new city manager

City of Fairborn Economic Development Director Rob Anderson has been names city manager, officials announced in a press release Tuesday afternoon.

The city council will vote on a resolution to formerly offer Anderson a contract on March 6, the release said.

“We are very excited about this opportunity,” Mayor Dan Kirkpatrick said in the release. “We were very fortunate we had a number of outstanding candidates and we selected the best person we believe to move the city forward. As a city in motion, Fairborn has many exciting programs and projects in our future.”

Anderson’s career in government began as a city planner for Kettering, a position he held for nearly 10 years before moving to Vandalia to be the assistant city manager, and later city manager. He branched out to start his own consulting firm, leaving Vandalia, to pursue his passion for development, the release said.

“I am honored to be selected as the next city manager of Fairborn,” Anderson said. “I’ve had the opportunity to get to know the people of Fairborn, staff and council, and I am looking forward to becoming a visible part of this community.”
