Springboro switches trash collectors, collection day to change

Springboro City Council voted on Thursday to switch trash collection providers to Rumpke Waste & Recycling.

The council approved a five-year contract with Rumpke to provide its residents with weekly trash, every-other-week recycling and seasonal yard waste collection beginning April 30.

“Monthly costs for trash collection will remain the same for residents for the foreseeable future,” according to an announcement Friday by the city.

Residents are to receive notification from Rumpke in late March including the collection schedule and directions to request a Rumpke trash cart, available for $3 per month.

Waste Management will be collecting their trash carts prior to Rumpke taking over service.

Recycling carts are property of the city of Springboro and remain with the household where delivered.

The city is to contact residents with collection information prior to the first Rumpke pickup date.

Rumpke will collect trash on Thursdays and Fridays. Residents will be notified of their new collection day by mail by both Rumpke and the city.

Rumpke will collect large/bulk items like furniture and appliances on the same day as scheduled trash service. Residents are encouraged to call in advance to inform Rumpke of the additional material.

Residents will have the ability to recycle cartons, cardboard boxes, plastic bottles and jugs, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans, and paper products, except paper plates, napkins, take-out containers and towels.

Collection will be delayed one day during the holiday weeks including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
