An Air Force directive to slash 1,000 civilian employees jobs throughout the service branch will not hit Wright-Patterson Air Force Base employees, a base spokeswoman said Friday.

But job cuts are pending for 20 employees who are “sitting in a surplus status from previous rounds of reductions,” base spokeswoman Marie Vanover said in an email.
