Cedarville U. grad chosen as leader of Army battalion

A Cedarville University graduate is the recently selected commander of an Army battalion at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Lt. Col. Micah R. Hutchins, a veteran of both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, is the new leader of the 501st Brigade Support Battalion, which is part of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division.

Hutchins, a 38-year-old Georgia native, graduated from Cedarville University in 2001, according to the university.

The unit provides medical support, maintenance and transportation to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team.
