Local Sears stores offering tire services in partnership with Amazon

Customers who buy tires on Amazon can now have them shipped to any Sears Auto Center for installation and balancing, including Springfield and Beavercreek.

The partnership between the online giant and struggling department store that began in May offered a ship-to-store service where customers could buy any brand of tires on Amazon and ship them to 47 Sears Auto Centers in eight metropolitan areas. Now all Auto Centers nationwide will take on the pilot.

"The response from Amazon customers around this program has been extremely positive. Our competitive bundled price for tire installation, which includes the installation of the tire, wheel balancing, valve stem or tire pressure monitor rebuild kit and the tire disposal fee is resonating with these customers," said Mike McCarthy, vice president and general manager of Sears Automotive.

There are Sears Auto Centers at the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek and in Springfield. One closed at the Dayton Mall last year.

Sears has been struggling in recent months, announcing last week that the Sears department store at the Dayton Mall would shutter. Hundreds of Sears Holdings stores, which also includes Kmart, across the country have closed as Sears tries to adjust to growing online shopping and changing shopping habits.
