One of the universities near Dayton was ranked third in the country for producing the most Fortune 500 CEOs, according to the publication Money.

Miami University in Oxford, which Money describes as a small Midwestern liberal arts school, is also ranked 171 in the publication’s Best Colleges 2015 list.

Alumni include:

  • David C. Dvorak, Zimmer Biomet Holdings
  • Lynn J. Good, Duke Energy
  • Kimberly S. Lubel, CST Brands
  • James T. Ryan, W.W. Grainger

According to Money, the school is the only one in the top 10 list to have more than one female CEO to its credit.

Money said the “university offers a rigorous liberal arts curriculum that prepares its students for all kinds of challenges.”

The steps to success do not always have to be paved through traditional business majors, such as economics, business, or engineering.  Fortune 500 has recently released the educational backgrounds of chief executives and it showed some surprising things.

Some Fortune 500 CEOs have degrees in art history, geology, psychology, and history. In fact, some of the CEOs don’t even have graduate degrees -- at least 121 executives. These executives include CEOs of Exxon Mobil, UnitedHealth Group and Amazon, according to Money.

The full list of Top 10 Colleges of Fortune 500 CEOs is as follows:
