“Ken and I would like to extend a deep and heartfelt thank you to all of you who have supported us over the past two years. It has been a fantastic journey, and Cuvee would not be the great wine bar that it is without all of you,” Taylor wrote in an email to her customers and on Facebook.
“We extend a warm welcome to Chef Greg and Melanie as they begin the fifth chapter of Cuvee ownership. While many things will remain the same, their plans will lift Cuvee to the next level.”
Zemore — who was trained at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York — said he is still formulating those long-term plans and will make no immediate changes to Cuvee. Zemore said he enjoys making his own pasta and sausages, and bakes his own bread.
From 2007 to 2010, Zemore was general manager of the Der Dutchman restaurant in Waynesville, which was heavily damaged in a 2010 fire and later demolished. He also served in several positions, including general manager, for Mariott Hotels, in locations that include Dayton and Springfield, between 1992 and 2007.
“I’ve always wanted my own place, and the time was right,” Zemore said of the purchase of Cuvee.
A wine bar has filled the space in the retail shopping center near Ohio 725 and Wilmington Pike since 1999, when Cindy Hill opened the doors of Cindy’s Wine Cellar. Hill sold it to one of her employees, Jessica Paringer, and Paringer’s husband, Chris Cavender, in 2005, and the wine bar became Cuvee Wine Bar & Cellar. Lisa Corral and her daughters Sarah Corral and Natalie Corral purchased the business in 2010, and kept the Cuvee name, as did Kraus and Taylor when they purchased the business in 2014.
“We look forward to many more years at Cuvee spending time with great friends, drinking fine wine and eating awesome food,” Taylor wrote. “See you soon … on the other side of the bar!”
