At AFIT, Horne was an instructor in system engineering management, according to Wright-Patterson spokeswoman Marie Vanover.
“He is currently conducting other duties commensurate with his rank until the investigation is complete,” Vanover said in an email Thursday.
Horne was on temporary duty at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., at the time of the alleged incident in April, authorities said. Wright-Patterson officials did not provide information on his current duty location or job.
The suspect approached the woman, whom he did not know was an Air Force officer, in a Colorado Springs, Colo., mall around April 13 and asked her if she was interested in a paid modeling shoot in his hotel room, the court affidavit said. He also said he had a modeling website, police said.
The female officer at first told the suspect she was 20 years old, but in a recorded phone call later told him twice she was 16 years old, the court affidavit said. The suspect also asked if she was 16 years old, and she said yes, the affidavit said.
The two agreed to meet for a paid modeling shoot that was expected to include nude photos, the affidavit alleged.
Horne was arrested April 14 at an adult entertainment store in Colorado Springs where he expected to meet the woman, the affidavit said.
Authorities alleged the suspect contacted at least three young women at Colorado Springs malls to ask them if they were interested in modeling, a police statement said.
An El Paso County District Court judge set a $5,000 bond for Horne in a court appearance this week, according to Sgt. Joel B. Kern, a Colorado Springs Police Department spokesman. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in May.
A telephone message was left Thursday afternoon with Horne’s attorney in Colorado.
