Allegiant Air is offering waived or refunded fees for military and their families.

Active and retired military that fly Allegiant will have their fees waived for checked and carry-on luggage, seat assignments, priority boarding, over-sized luggage and much more.

Ohio has just over 28,000 military reserve residents -- standing at sixth in the nation, according to governing.com.

In addition, the state has over 6,500 active duty members.

Allegiant, joining Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines, is the third major airline to waive or refund fees for military members, and their families are delighted.

"I think the military deserves a break and they're away from their family," said Shelia Erford, who was traveling to Boston with a family member.

"If someone is close enough that someone can fly to them and spend a long quality weekend together, it will help them," Erford said.
