Animal shelter gas leak cost $8,212

An emergency gas line replacement project at the Miami County Animal Shelter in mid-December ended up costing the county $8,212.

The county commissioners Jan. 6 approved paying Wagner Plumbing and Heating of Troy for the work done between Dec. 13 and 18.

A gas line leak was found Dec. 11 and attempts made to repair the existing line. The line was around 45 years old and could not be fixed so it was replaced. Vectren placed a new meter near the road and new regulators installed on equipment, the commissioners were told. The shelter is located on County Road 25A, just north of Troy.
