Mercer County fire does $500k in damage, building a total loss

A fire reported around 11 p.m. Wednesday at 911 North Seventh Street in Coldwater resulted in an estimated $500,000 in damage.

The building is a total loss, fire chief Brent Forsthoefel told WHIO.

The Greenland Estates apartment building was engulfed in flames when crews arrived on scene.

Celina, St. Henry and Coldwater departments worked for 8 hours to knock down the fire.

A toddler and two adults were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures and have since been released.

The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced in the fire.

The state fire marshall's office and Coldwater Fire Department are investigating to find a cause.
