3 arrested in Butler County OVI Task Force blitz

The Butler County OVI Task Force and numerous other law enforcement agencies stopped about 1,000 drivers this weekend and charged three with operating a vehicle under the influence.

On Friday 615 cars were stopped and 18 drivers were diverted for further investigation in Oxford, according to task force coordinator Pete Reising. No OVI arrests were made but four people were cited on misdemeanor drug charges, there were two underage alcohol charges and two citations for no driver’s license.

The checkpoint was staged from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on US 27, Oxford-Millville Road at University Park Boulevard.

A second checkpoint was held Saturday night and one person was cited for OVI - at least two others were arrested during saturation patrols. Police stopped 362 vehicles and diverted 23. Reising said 10 cars were towed, three people were cited for driving under suspension, two for marijuana and seven people were cited for no driver’s license

The checkpoint was staged on Ohio 4 at Hanover street from 10:20 p.m. until 1:20 a.m.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Patrol and police from Hamilton, Oxford, Oxford Twp. and Miami University participated in the respective checkpoints.
