BANKING

First Financial recognized for mortgage lending

First Financial Bank said it was recognized earlier this month as the Highest Producing New Lender in 2010 by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.

The award is based on First Financial’s emerging loan growth as a partner with the housing agency, according to the company. In its first year in the program, First Financial was named as the fastest-growing lender in the state for residential mortgage loans.

First Financial Bank was honored during OHFA’s luncheon on July 14 in Columbus.

Ed Hensley, first vice president, mortgage lending manager, said in a statement Thursday that First Financial last year increased its focus on mortgage lending by hiring seasoned mortgage originators and building an in-house origination support team. His statement said as a result, First Financial was able to take advantage of many homebuyer programs offered by OHFA. STAFF REPORT
