LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Rockies manager Jim Tracy was “resting comfortably” while being evaluated at a local hospital after collapsing early Tuesday morning, the Rockies said according to mlb.com.
Tracy, a 1974 Badin High School graduate, was with Rockies coaches Tom Runnells and Carney Lansford near a set of elevators in the Dolphin Hotel, part of the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort where the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings are being conducted, when he collapsed, according to mlb.com.
The coaches stayed with him until emergency personnel arrived. Tracy was conscious and responsive when he was being attended to, and stood with assistance, according to mlb.com. After several minutes of being examined, he was taken from the hotel on a stretcher.
Tracy, a Hamilton native, has led the Rockies to post season a appearance. He also has been named the Sporting News’ National League Manager of the Year and Manager of the Year by the Baseball Writers of America.
