Boundary change impacts local shopping center

DAYTON — A municipal boundary line change between Dayton and Kettering paves the way for future improvements to a Patterson Road shopping center.

The property is owned by the Greenmont Village Housing Corporation. A sliver of the 37,000 square-foot-shopping center, that includes Dot’s Market, lay in the city of Dayton, with the bulk in Kettering.

Permits for building improvements would have to come from both municipalities, which have different rules.

On Wednesday, July 22, the Dayton City Commission agreed to change the boundary making all of the shopping center in Kettering.

“This was meant to simplify the permit process and make it easier to make changes, make reinvestments or improvements to the land,” Paul Daily, property manager for Greenmont said. “Now we can contemplate what the future might hold. This represents Greenmont’s commitment to the municipality and to the community.

The shopping center has 13 retail or office spaces in addition to Dot’s, which occupies 50 percent of the building.
