Meet the wild birds of Miller Eco Park

On Sept. 23 from 10 a.m.-noon come out and meet the wild birds of Miller Eco Park, 755 Miller Road, presented by Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist David Woehr.

Participants will hike the trails of the park and see how many birds they can identify. Bring your binoculars and bird field guide if you have them and be sure to dress for the weather and wear proper footwear for unimproved trail hiking.

Farmer’s Market runs through Oct. 19

The Lebanon Farmer’s Market operates on Thursdays from 3-7 p.m. through Oct. 19, in the parking lot located at the corner of Main St and Sycamore St.

Visitors can select from a wide variety of produce, baked goods, honey, jams, meats, flowers and more.

WEST CARROLLTON

City to recognize Purple Heart recipients

On Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m., in the Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave., the West Carrollton City Council will honor local Purple Heart recipients during a city council meeting. During the meeting, the city council will recognize “Purple Heart Day” and West Carrollton as a “Purple Heart City”.

Members of the Ohio chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Honor Guard will lead the pledge of allegiance and accept the proclamation during the meeting. Members of the Hammond Memorial VFW Post 3438 will also be in attendance.

Library groundbreaking Sept. 12

On Sept. 12 at 2 p.m., join the city of West Carrollton for a groundbreaking ceremony to launch the renovation and expansion of the West Carrollton Branch Library, 300 E. Central Ave. Light refreshments will be served.

Volunteers needed for lunch program

Volunteers are needed to help serve nutritious lunches to seniors at the Gerhardt Civic Center, 3050 Kreitzer Road. The Senior Citizen Nutrition Lunch Program runs weekdays from 11 a.m.-noon. For more information call 937-535-1095

Adopt a flower bed program

The city is seeking volunteers to participate in its Adopt-A-Flowerbed Program. Help maintain a city flowerbed by removing weeds, litter and spent buds. You could earn a Payne Recreation Center membership. For more information on how to volunteer call 937-535-1003.
