The light appeared to move in an eastern trajectory.
Officials from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base confirmed they did not have any activities that would cause the light in the sky this evening.
On Thursday morning the American Meteor Society had more than 700 reports, including images captured on film, of a large fireball in the sky. The bright light was seen from Wisconsin and Illinois and even some reports in southeast Ohio.
A fireball is defined as a very large meteor, or the light emitted from a meteoroid or asteroid as it enters the Earth's atmosphere.
Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Erica Collura said several thousand fireballs occur in the atmosphere each day, but are rarely seen. Also, colors of fireballs vary depending on the materials the meteoroids entering the atmosphere are composed of.
If you saw the flash of light in the sky Friday night you can file an official fireball report on the American Meteor Society's website here.
There are already some accounts of the flash of light seen in Ohio Friday on the American Meteor Society's pending reports and CNN is reporting that meteors were seen across Indiana and Ohio.
