According to a police report, while driving the bus near Watervliet Avenue and Bellaire Avenue around 9 a.m., the driver noticed the young child walking alone on the sidewalk in her unicorn pajama dress wearing boots, a jacket, and carrying a blanket. The driver stopped and put the little girl on the bus while they both waited for officers to arrive.

The child, who lived in a nearby apartment building, stated she was trying to get to her mother, who was at work at the time, so that she could take care of a small scratch that she found when she woke up.

When officers went to the child’s residence, the door was found slightly open and the girl’s dad answered with a look of surprise, stating she had never done anything like this before.

The child’s father said he was sleeping in the apartment and thought she was asleep inside as well, the report stated.

The parents were only given a warning and told to lock the top chain lock of the door so that this incident does not happen again.

The child was found unharmed and no signs of abuse or neglect were mentioned in the police report.
