This year’s goal is $100,000 less that the 2010 goal of $2.1 million. Last year’s campaign generated $1.84 million in pledges with more than 10,000 people contributing.
Manwaring urged those in attendance to spread the word to “give where you live.”
He added early cooperate campaigns have raised 8 percent of the campaign’s goal.
“Together we can build a strong community,” Manwaring said.
The breakfast event held at Wingate by Wyndham in West Chester Twp. and was followed by a “Day of Caring” that afforded more than 100 volunteers to lend their hands and talents to help local community agencies complete tasks that they could not do otherwise, including painting, gardening, landscaping and home repair.
An additional Day of Caring will be held today at the West Chester Activity Center. The multi-agency collaboration between Partners in Prime, Edge Teen Center, Boys and Girls Club, Butler County United Way and SEBC Leadership 21 Class of 2011 will bridge the generational gap and have youth helping adults learn about social media, while adults will share their knowledge on fun traditional card games like bridge and euchre.
