Brusky, 35, said he is in the process of moving to Washington, D.C. and his resignation takes effect on Friday when Trump takes the oath of office. He plans to attend the inauguration, and locally worked on Trump’s presidential campaign.
Brusky’s term of office expires Dec. 31. He joined the Butler Twp. trustees in 2014. His departure will be the latest mix-up in township leadership. Police Chief John Cresie resigned last year, in part citing the trustees for having "lost sight of basic leadership."
Earlier this month, Brusky was a vocal opponent of the strike by the union representing the Greater Dayton RTA bus drivers and mechanics, calling for legislation to thwart future strikes.
His biography on the Butler Twp. website indicates he works as a Thuman Trucking driver and previously worked as a truck broker for NAX Transportation and had worked as a legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives. He also served for seven years as a councilman in Amherst, Ohio.
Brusky has not said publicly what position he will hold in the Trump administration. He is married with two children.
