Cable worker hurt on the job

Unidentified man falls 20 feet from extension ladder.

FAIRFIELD TWP. — A Time Warner Cable worker suffered injuries Friday after falling 20 feet from an extension ladder.

Around 11 a.m., while completing work at 7302 Clarion Court, the male worker fell from a ladder that was set up on the road under power lines, said resident Pat Riley, whose Internet was being set up by the company.

“He lost his balance and fell,” Riley said. “His shoulder looked dislocated and he was in a lot of pain.”

Fairfield Twp. Life Squad transported the worker to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown. Riley said he was alert and speaking with paramedics.

Michael Pedelty, spokesman for Time Warner Cable, said an internal investigation is being conducted.

He also said the company was not going to release the injured worker’s name.

“It’s not often (we have a fall) because we take a lot of steps to make sure we do appropriate training and have adequate equipment,” Pedelty said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not investigate work-related injuries unless they involve a fatality or dangerous working condition, according to Time Warner officials.
